What is there to know about the Target Center renovations?

Renovations to Target Center are happening in three phases.

Phase 1 began in April of 2016 and included the install of the new scoreboard system, including vast improvements to the sound system for a better acoustic experience and the installation of the largest center-hung scoreboard in the Upper Midwest! Construction also got underway on the premium seating level, building out brand new spaces and suites throughout the level. The arena also revamped the entire entryway on the Skyway, adding multiple doors to better accommodate foot traffic into the building. Target Center has remained open for games and events throughout Phase 1.

Phase 2 begins with exterior work starting in the Fall of 2016. Construction will start on the corner of First Avenue and 6th street and will also begin on the loading docks and marshalling yard. Phase 2 will be complete in Spring of 2017 and Target Center will remain open throughout.

Phase 3 will begin in Summer of 2017 and will close the arena for games and events for the duration of the work. The Minnesota Lynx will move to Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul for the 2017 season while Phase 3 is underway. Locker rooms, dressing rooms, and other arena prep spaces will be refaced along with the build-out of an all-new box office lobby. Concourses, concessions and club spaces will continue to be refreshed and updated to ensure the fan experience at Target Center is bar none. Phase 3 will be complete in Fall of 2017 in time for the Home Opener for the Minnesota Timberwolves 2017-18 season.
